Joe is kind and outgoing, making friends wherever he goes. Joe’s an enthusiastic sports fan, especially when it comes to his favorite hockey team, the LA Kings! Joe is actively involved in adaptive soccer, football, basketball, baseball, and Karate. He also loves watching football with his dad. When he’s not playing or watching sports, Joe likes listening to his favorite band, Green Day, reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and playing games. Joe is also currently practicing for SpongeBob the Musical, which will be his sixth show
Since joining Mychal’s, Joe has shown incredible growth, both personally and in his skills. Program supervisor Bridgett shared, “Joe has been more outspoken since joining the program. He’s not shy about expressing his excitement, especially when it comes to menu planning or his cooking classes.” Cooking has become one of Joe’s favorite activities at Mychal’s, and he’s especially passionate about improving his knife skills. Joe has also recently started working at Mychal’s Café, where he is learning how to work the cash register. He has quickly become a welcoming and outgoing presence with guests and has been doing an amazing job handling the register. Joes mom shared “As his parents, we have never seen him try harder to be independent at home and in the community. He has a newfound confidence working at Mychal’s Café.” Joe shared that working at the cafe makes him feel happy and his favorite part about working is putting in the orders!
Joe is excited to continue exploring new opportunities and learning valuable skills. He looks forward to taking on more responsibilities at Mychal’s Café and continuing to grow in his role. Joe also hopes to keep improving his cooking skills and learning new techniques in the kitchen. With his kindness, and willingness to try new things, Joe is sure to continue thriving at Mychal’s and beyond!
