Meet Youssef: Gaining Knowledge & Dreaming Big
Youssef is a very kind & polite individual who will always make conversation and ask how you’re doing. He also has a silly side and positive demeanor that makes everyone around him happy. Youssef enjoys watching basketball (especially the Lakers), anime, and playing soccer. In his free time, you can find him hanging out with friends or shopping – he loves keeping up with the latest trends and big brands!
Growth at Mychal’s
Youssef joined Mychal’s Culver City After School Program 5 years ago and has been a joy to have as a participant. Anais, Culver City ASP Supervisor, says ” Youssef has become more responsible and independent over the years. We have seen him develop a strong sense of leadership where he takes initiative to help his other friends in program.” Youssef is proud of all that he has learned over the years and explains that it “feels good” to be more independent & gain knowledge about the world.
During program, Youssef has made some really close friends and taken advantage of different vocational training opportunities. He has trained in the Bakery and at the Print Shop, both have been interesting experiences for him that allowed him to learn new things!
Dreaming Big
As he thinks about the future, Youssef dreams of having his own Arabic restaurant in Culver City. He says there’s a lack of good Middle Eastern food options in the area and hopes to fill this void with his favorite dishes!
In the fall, Youssef will be leaving Mychal’s and going to a college program. Although he’s a bit nervous to start this new adventure, he’s excited to meet new people and gain new experiences. Youssef shared, “I’m going to miss the funny, friendly people at Mychal’s – I’ll miss my buddies and the staff. I’ve already told them that I will visit when I can.” We will miss Youssef so much, but know he is going to continue doing amazing things – we look forward to watching you achieve greatness!
